YBD3系列隔爆型変极多速三相异步电动机是在YB2系列上派生的全封闭自扇冷鼠笼式隔爆型三相异步电动机，该系列电动机采用改变绕组的接法来变换电机的极数和输出功率，使之与机械设备的负载特性相匹配，简化其变速系统，并可节省大量电能。电动机变速类型有:二速、三速、四速三种类型。二速接线盒内有6个接线螺栓，三速接线盒内有9个接线螺栓，四速接线盒内有12个接线螺栓，供用户变极变速使用。
YBD3系列隔爆型変极多速三相异步电动机的隔爆性能符合 GB3836.2-2000《爆炸性气体环境用电气设备 第2部分：隔爆型“d”》规定，制成ExdIIAT4 ExdIIBT4， 适用于工厂具有IIA、IIB级、温度组别T1~T4组爆炸性气体混合物存在的危险场所。
